Week 6 Start/Sit: Good Matchups

The decision to start/sit a player really depends on your alternatives. For example, if you have Romo, you should not sit him in favor of one of these guys. But if you are trying to decide between a couple marginal players, here are some players/teams with some good matchups this week that I would start:

QB Gus Frerotte (MIN): Frerotte has played surprisingly well, given his age and history at QB. And he has one of his easiest matchups this week against the Lions. Although I am sure the Vikings will look to rely heavily on Adrian Peterson, Frerotte should have an opportunity to hit Berrian on a few deep passes. Also, Peterson could turn some short swing-passes into big gains.

RB Willis McGahee, RB Le’Ron McClain (BAL): McGahee is beat up, but he had 22 carries and performed well last week. Indy has a pretty weak run defense, so you can also start McClain with confidence. McGahee should get around 20 carries, and McClain should get around 15 carries. And I expect McClain to find the end zone.

RB Ryan Grant (GB): I am going out on a limb with this one, but I think Grant gets it going this week against Seattle. The Seahawks are giving up an average of 130 yards rushing per game, and Grant looked good against the Falcons last week. I think he will finally get 100 yards and might find the end zone.

RB Ronnie Brown (MIA): Although his 5-TD performance may have been somewhat of a fluke, this guy is for real (again). I will admit: I thought he would have a harder time returning from his knee injury. But he looks very good. And he should have (another) good day against the Texans.

WR Santana Moss (WAS): Santana Moss was shutout last week, but the Rams are awful. And the Redskins are playing very well. Look for all the Skins to have pretty solid days, and look for Moss to rebound in a big way.

WR Randy Moss (NE): Randy Moss is a guy I would start every week, but other than last week, he has not played well with Cassell at QB. However, I think they got some things worked out during the bye week, so I would look for Moss to continue to play well. And San Diego has given up the most passing yards per game of any team in the NFL and has given up a lot of passing TDs. Look for Moss to take advantage.

TE Visanthe Shiancoe (MIN): Shiancoe has been playing well with Frerotte at QB. And this weekend, they play the Lions, who may be the worst team in the NFL. Look for Shiancoe to continue his trend of putting up solid fantasy numbers.
